Web and Social Media
Being a digital publication is wonderful for many reasons, but most notably, we can publish timely stories quickly and reach a large audience. That being said, web design and organization are two crucial factors. I believe our strengths lie in how organized and easy to navigate the Oracle’s website is. It’s also engaging to explore, which is an essential part of grabbing our audiences attention. Part of this process is working with SNO and SNO Support to make our site run smoothly. As a board, we also complete the SNO Badges, which are different categories that ensure we have strong social media, unique storytelling formats, and consistent coverage.
Here are some examples of unique, digital storytelling formats:
This light-hearted whimsy required embedding this multiple choice quiz into the Wordpress story. It was challenging, but I got in touch with SNO Support, who explained it very simply.
Originally, my idea for this piece was to write a commentary on why I was drawn to multimedia. However, I also really wanted to hear from Francie and Maia, the previous multimedia editors. I chose a podcast to make the story more accessible and personal, so listeners could hear our voices and passion behind the topic. (Scroll to see more of my Scoop episodes!)
Social Media
Social media is a vital outreach system on The Oracle. Many Archer students are too busy to read entire articles (unfortunately), so our Instagram and Facebook are how they get information about events on campus. It’s also how we promote published articles to the community. For the news week, each team is responsible for posting once a day on Instagram. Consistent posting grows our audience and allows us to get the SNO Social Media Badge! Here are examples of my grid posts and reels below:
I am a huge proponent of using info graphics to make articles and commentaries more visually pleasing. For this story, I recounted the five largest ways that deleting TikTok influenced my life. I had initially written the piece in a normal SNO format, but used Infogram to enhance the visuals. I think this drew more eyes to my story and made the information more digestible.
Podcasting: The Scoop
I recorded this podcast for the third day of SJW 2026. The theme for the day was Pressure Makes Professionals, and I wanted to get an understanding of why young people want to pursue journalism today. I interviewed Lola, professional journalist Chace Beech, and Ms. Taylor. At a time when journalism is frequently framed through burnout, distrust and instability, I wanted this episode to focus on the people who continue to believe deeply in the importance of truthful storytelling and hope. My goal was to have listeners come away with a stronger understanding of journalism as a commitment to curiosity, accountability and community.
I recorded this podcast because I believe there are so many diverse stories within the Archer community that often go unnoticed. While Archer does not have lacrosse or hockey teams, we still have incredibly talented athletes competing at high levels in those sports outside of school. I wanted to highlight Quinn’s story because I knew her team was heading to a major national competition, yet very few people at Archer knew about it. My goal with this episode was to broaden what people think of when they picture student athletes at Archer. I wanted listeners to come away with a greater appreciation for what exists within our community.
Archer is filled with students pursuing unique passions and careers outside of school, and I wanted to highlight Sofia’s experience balancing life as a student and a working actor. Through this episode, I aimed to show how Archer students are able to pursue non-traditional opportunities while remaining connected to their education and community. Sofia’s experience working on a major network sitcom while continuing her education through Archer Anywhere reflects that ambition and adaptability.
